Deutsche Bank, together with The Australian, hosted four of the nation’s media industry leaders as they discussed the future of media at The Australian and Deutsche Bank Business Leaders Forum in Sydney.
Following on from the success of the inaugural Business Leaders Forum in October 2010, this series of events is designed to stimulate debate, engage and resonate while addressing a range of issues across business and academic sector.
Panel members Brett Chenoworth, Chief Executive APN News and Media; David Gyngell, Chief Executive Nine Entertainment Co; Rhys Holleran, Chief Executive Southern Cross Media Group; and Kim Williams AM, Chief Executive Foxtel discussed the pertinent issues reshaping the Australian media landscape in front of more than 350 guests. From technology innovation to regulation, each topic was met with lively debate from the esteemed panel.
Deutsche Bank and The Australian believe that there has never been a more important time for high level debate among members of corporate Australia.
The Australian’s Chief Executive Richard Freudenstein said, “The aim of these forums is to provide a platform where industry leaders and decision makers can come together to discuss the issues that matter. Tickets for this event were sold out within 24 hours which I think demonstrates the appetite for informed and informing debate.”
Speaking at the event, Head of Corporate Finance, Deutsche Bank Australia and New Zealand, Scott Perkins said, “Today’s panel discussion has reminded us why we’re all so fascinated with the media. The people running the media and of course, the people behind the people running the media. The industry has never been faced with so many challenges and yet so many opportunities. New content distribution technologies, new customer attitudes and behaviours and for all, virtually, the potential changes in ownership and even management.
“We were privileged today by our panellists candour and openness about how their own organisations are facing these challenges and opportunities. We thank them for that spirited and provocative debate.”
