Deutsche Bank has extended its support of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives by awarding the inaugural Deutsche Bank Scholarship in Actuarial Studies to worthy Macquarie University student, Yeeshu Kumar.
The Deutsche Bank Scholarship in Actuarial Studies is a three-year scholarship for a first year Actuarial Studies student at Macquarie University. The award is valued at $10,000 per annum and includes an annual one-month job placement with Deutsche Bank within its Global Markets or Global Banking divisions.
“Enabling talent through education is one of the five pillars of our Corporate Social Responsibility charter,” said Chum Darvall, CEO Deutsche Bank Australia and New Zealand.”
“By awarding Yeeshu the Deutsche Bank Scholarship in Actuarial Studies, not only are we providing financial assistance, but through the work placement component that begins in first year, we will give him the practical experience graduates need in today’s increasingly complex banking and financial sector.”
A Selection Committee, comprised of one member from Deutsche Bank and two members from Macquarie University, selected the scholarship recipient from applications received based primarily on academic merit. However, the Selection Committee also considered the applicant’s extra-curricular activities, interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, personal qualities and genuine interest in a career in financial services.
