Deutsche Bank today announced the return of John MacKinnon to Australia to resume his role as Head of the Australian Metals and Mining company research team. Tama Willis will succeed MacKinnon as Head of the European Metals and Mining company research team based in London. Both appointments are effective from 1 June 2007.
Ross Brown, Head of Australian Company Research, said the new appointments reflect the significant industry overlaps that exist between UK and Australian-listed mining companies.
“These changes will not only ensure continuity of coverage across the markets, but also enhance and strengthen this highly-ranked and valuable franchise,” he said.
Following four successful years as Deutsche Bank’s Head of European Metals and Mining company research team, MacKinnon will return from London to Australia to resume his role and retains primary research coverage of BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto.
Together with Brendan James and Brendan Fitzpatrick, Deutsche Bank’s Australian-based coverage of metals and mining companies includes Alumina; Barrick Gold; BHP Billiton; Centennial Coal Co Ltd; ERA; Iluka Resources; Lihir Gold Ltd; Macarthur Coal Ltd; Meridian Gold; Newcrest Mining Ltd; Newmont Mining; Oceana Gold Ltd; Oxiana; Paladin Resources Limited; Rio Tinto and Zinifex Ltd.
Willis has been with Deutsche Bank since 1999 as a member of the Commodities and Mining and Metals research teams. Joining Willis is former Deutsche Bank Mining team member Andrew Howard, who has spent the last four years completing his MBA and working with McKinsey Consulting in New York.
