DB Capital Partners completes milestone technology-based private equity sale - Local technology company sold to IBM
DB Capital Partners, through its managed fund vehicles Deutsche Private Equity Fund 1 (DPEF1) and Ericsson-Deutsche Technology Fund (EDTF), has today completed the sale of investee company, Presence Online (trading as Aptrix) to IBM Australia.
Presence Online is a leading web content management software company whose software enables businesses including British Airways, Alcatel and AXA to manage the production and publication of web content. Established in Sydney in 1996, Presence Online now has additional offices in London and Boston.
DPEF1 and EDTF were the major, as well as first private equity investors in Presence Online, having invested in the company in July 2000. DB Capital Partners also significantly contributed to the strategic direction of the business and the exit process, as well as leveraged Deutsche Bank’s international network to assist the company expand globally.
“This is a milestone deal for the Australian technology industry that reflects the superb technology that the team at Presence has built,” said Peter Dowding, Managing Director of DB Capital Partners and Fund Manager for DPEFI.
Since inception in 1994, DB Capital Partners has successfully exited 23 investments, generating a combined total value of around A$700 million, while consistently delivering attractive returns to clients.
